It is a commonly known fact that oil field operations such as the Texas Allied Petroleum excels in are extremely costly. What few people fail to keep in mind that such expensive operations are made even more expensive because of the sheer number of individuals required for operations to continue running in a smooth manner. Delays are always a bad thing in business but more so in the oil industry, where even a few days’ worth of delay can easily translate to losing a project worth millions of dollars. In 2005, TAP started business and did so strategically by playing the field the same way the big guys did. Although it was a small operation at the start, it made sure that all its operations were at par with the quality set by the larger and established companies. Moreover, TAP applied the same rules when recruiting and selecting individuals to join their workforce. Next, TAP made sure that people were placed in positions that would make the most out of their skills and knowledge, regardless of their current experience level and industry standing. The first set of individuals that TAP went on to hire was those that would be key to keeping the main camp running without a hitch. TAP wanted to make sure that there will always be hot food waiting for the workers after a hard day’s work on the field and they will also have clean and comfortable rooms to live in. All their living needs should also be taken care of, such as having adequate facilities for bathing and for recreational activities.
The second type of individuals that Texas Allied Petroleum hired was those that would work on the field throughout their stay in the camp. First, there are the surveyors, which may only be present for the first few weeks prior to the camp being fully operational. Surveyors are meant only to take stock of the selected site or determine its suitability prior to purchase. There is also a need for individuals to be a part of the camp’s loading and layout team. It is possible that their original number would be trimmed down when the site is fully operational and most of the heavy equipment and layout needs have been put into their respective positions. TAP is careful in selecting who goes to their loading team as these are the individuals directly responsible for loading explosives in strategic sites. Next are the crews for pick-up, recorders, and shooters.
The crews required for offshore or marine 3D seismic operations are basically the same but with a few notable additions. Naturally, TAP makes sure that each person they hire is good in swimming and does not suffer from hydrophobia.
